New marketplace clients per month × average first-visit value × the commission rate, with 20% VAT on top of the commission. For Fresha the £4 + VAT minimum per client is applied. Repeat bookings are commission-free on both platforms, so this only counts new clients the marketplace sends you, plus any subscription you enter.
Sometimes, yes. A marketplace is good at finding new clients, and paying for a client you would never have met can make sense. The cost adds up when clients who already know you (from Google, Instagram or a friend) end up booking through the marketplace instead of directly with you.
